About Logoworkout

Introduction

As a semi-active member of various logo design communities on Reddit for several years, I've learned a lot. Firstly, there are significantly more aspiring logo designers out there than I ever anticipated, which is incredibly exciting! Secondly, most beginners seem to struggle with figuring out how to learn the craft when starting out, which was also a challenge for me in the past.

The goal of Logoworkout is to create a place where you can learn and practice logo design, regardless of your skill level.

The Project

Logoworkout is a passion project that I've wanted to launch for several years. However, due to various reasons, it has been delayed multiple times. I decided to launch an "alpha" version of the website with basic tools and a small amount of content. I'll continue to add to it over time, and the interest of actual users will undoubtedly motivate me even more. This approach is to combat my perfectionism. Instead of flushing out the website with all of its content and features, developing it on the go while people can use it seems to be the perfect way around this problem.

What sparked the idea?

When I started out as an aspiring logo designer, the main advice given to me was to practice by creating logos for fictional companies. The advice itself was solid, but coming up with fake company names proved to be harder than expected. It wasn't because I lacked imagination, but because I couldn't turn off my brain from nudging the fake company in a direction that was within my comfort zone, which was extremely limited in the beginning. To counter this, I searched far and wide for good name generators, but I didn't like any of the ones I found, nor did I like any of the manual methods I came across. So, to make it easier for myself (and let's be honest, to procrastinate as well probably), I decided to program one myself. I was quite pleased with the result. In fact, I was so happy with it that I wanted to make it available to others too. That's how the idea of Logoworkout came to life, albeit on a very small scale. As time went by, I had a couple of additional ideas for the platform. Eventually, I had enough ideas for it to make sense to turn the idea into reality.

The goal

The main goal of Logoworkout is simply to help as many people practice and grow as possible. This is the goal I set out to achieve, and as long as people use the website and feel that they benefit from it, I consider the project a huge success! Apart from the main goal, it would be amazing if the project becomes self-sustaining. By that, I mean it gets enough support to cover recurring expenses such as web hosting, domain renewal, and support by a professional programmer to help maintain and improve the website. Even though this is a passion project of mine, the ultimate goal is for it to receive enough support for me to justify spending a lot more time working on it, creating a lot more high-quality content, refining the tools, developing new features, engaging with the community, offering my help and giving feedback on Discord and the Subreddit, and so on. But even if I don't reach this goal, I will still be happy if people find the website useful.

Thank you for your interest in Logoworkout.

I hope to see your work in the future!
